This sophisticated tamper handle with its integrated precision release mechanism allows you to perfectly set and control the maximal pressure you require for optimal results, depending on the type and coarseness of the coffee grounds and also on your personal preferences.
Our meticulously engineered pressure limiter can be calibrated within a range of 8 kg to 21 kg (18 lbs to 46 lbs) by adjusting the central screw inside the handle’s core. The dynamometric tamper will automatically trigger a click-release once the selected pressure is reached like a torque. The handle with its screw-on cap consists of aluminium, the pressure-sensitive device inside is manufactured with stainless steel.
CAUTION: do not interfere with the two Allen head screws at the lower sides of the handle! Do not put the handle or tamper into a dishwasher!

I needed to upgrade from a convex bottom JF with Base Knock. I did some more research and realized that I needed a flat bottom. I ordered the flat bottom base know with the Handle Technic in silver. I wanted to not think too much in the morning and pull a good shot more often that not. I set the tamping pressure to my liking and left it. I've been getting a surprisingly consistent amount of shots with the flat bottom and Technic handle. The handle feels great ad has a good amount of weight to it, which I like. The polished finish on it is excellent - ("silver" color). I am 95% pleased. My only gripe with this set up is that the knock base (with rubber ring) does not prevent the Technic handle from smashing into the portafilter basket. I have to knock my handle with either my other tamper with knock base, which is inconvenient, or wrap large width rubber bands around the base of the Technic handle. This is what I've had to do. I hope that Joe Frex makes a knock base compatible handle! Overall a very good feeling handle and consistent performance. Looks classy and sharp.

This tamper has gone beyond my expectations. The materials and machining that went into making this tamper are first rate and setting the weight function works but I have to admit once you find the ideal setting that works for you, it's a done deal however its a good thing considering no more adjustments are necessary. What I was not expecting is the ergonomics of where your thumb, forefinger knuckle and palm of your hand is supported to apply even pressure which helps achieve a level tamp with authority. I also think having a disconnect from touching the base prevents uneven rocking that leads to an uneven basket.
I have used the fat tamper handles and always achieved mixed results but with Handle Technic it's like rubber stamping the grind without having to think about it and the extractions have been even. Who ever designed this Tamper understood the shortcomings of other tampers and improved on them.
